SELF-CREATED UNIT PLANS WITH LESSON PLANS & TEACHING MATERIALS

Description: Students will plan and create an animal sculpture using wire, newspaper, tape, and paper mache. Students will choose to paint their sculpture in a realistically or abstract style.

Rationale: 7B: understands a variety of current age-appropriate instructional strategies and their applications.
 

ASSESSMENT METHODS PORTFOLIO

 

Rationale: 7E: understands the role of assessment in measuring students’ learning and curriculum development.
7F: understands different assessment methods and their application in visual arts education.
7K: uses a variety of assessment methods to analyze and report students’ learning.

 

Description: These assessments were used for the paper mache unit plan above. I had several forms of assessment both formative and summative.  
 

PROFESSIONALISM, ADVOCACY & LEADERSHIP: PAL 1 

 

Rationale: 7G: understands the need for continuing study, self-evaluation, and professional growth.

 

Description: I went to several workshops at the Illinois Art Education annual conference. I learned a lot of different skills and lesson plans I can able to my classroom.

Evidence: In the photo to the right there is a student example of a sketchbook challenge. One student started this artwork and another student finished it. I really enjoyed this idea and will be using it in my future lesson plans.

PROFESSIONALISM, ADVOCACY & LEADERSHIP: PAL 2 

 

Description: I presented at the Illinois Art Education annual conference. I did a presentation on being an ally for LGBTQA+ students.

Rationale: 7N: advances his or her knowledge of current developments in the field by participating in professional development activities (e.g., coursework, professional organizations, and workshops).
